Antara: The Space Between
Inspired by the architecture, energy and contrasts of Rajasthan, Antara 2026 emerged from a month-long journey through New Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner.
More than twenty-five years after my first experience of India, I returned not simply to revisit a place, but to reconnect with a feeling - something found in surfaces shaped by time, in architecture that absorbs the rhythm of everyday life, and in colours that fade, deepen and shift until they become part of the place itself.
Antara -Sanskrit for “the space between” - reflects that suspended territory between memory and the present, stillness and chaos, what a photograph captures and everything that remains beyond its frame.
Moving instinctively through Rajasthan’s historic cities, I was drawn to the layered beauty of Rajput architecture, the richness of its ornamentation, and walls marked by years of heat, movement and human touch. These textures, colours and traces of time became the visual language of the series.
Antara began with a journey through India - seven intense days of travel, discovery and image-making across a country that has always fascinated me.
This film offers a glimpse behind the scenes of that experience: the places I encountered, the people, colours, textures and moments that gradually shaped Antara: The Space Between. For me, the work is never only about taking a photograph. It is about absorbing a place, following instinct and allowing unexpected details and emotions to become part of the final image.
From the landscapes and energy of India to the finished works presented by Castle Fine Art, this film documents part of the creative process behind Antara and the journey that brought the collection to life.
